1951 INTERNATIONAL RESTO-MOD

We just wrapped up one of the more unique ( and challenging! ) projects we've tackled—an incredible 1951 International pickup mounted on a 1999 Dodge Durango chassis.

JB's Power Centre – South Edmonton (4605 Gateway Blvd)

This build came to us from Darren, a new customer from Red Deer who was referred to JB’s South to bring this Frankenstein build back to life. The truck looked great on the outside, but inside… not so much. It still had the Dodge 318 engine, ECM, BCM, full wiring harness, and even the Durango steering column—none of which matched Darren’s vision of a clean, classic 1951 interior.

✔️ Removed the Dodge steering column and brake pedal setup
✔️ Patched up a 12"x12" section of the firewall (it was swiss cheese…)
✔️ Custom-mounted a new steering column and built a custom shaft to work with the Dodge steering box
✔️ Removed all unused wiring and sealed off the ends
✔️ Installed new switches for the headlights, wipers, and blower motor
✔️ Built a custom harness to rewire signals, brake lights, hazards, blower motor, wipers, headlights, radio, and sensors
✔️ Added 2 new fuse blocks to handle our current updates as well as be able to handle future upgrades
✔️ Installed a new electric thermostat for fan control
✔️ Added a classic air cleaner + AutoMeter GPS Speedo module
✔️ Cleaned up all the scotch-locks and dead-end wiring under the hood
💬 When Darren opened the door to see the finished interior, his reaction said it all: “That is a million times better!”
Yes—the bill came in a bit higher than Darren expected, but we kept him updated with progress videos along the way, and once he saw the level of care and craftsmanship we put in, he was more than happy. In fact, he’s already booked us for round two: rewiring his next International with a full American Autowire setup.

No sugarcoating it—this was a tough one. There were moments we wondered if we bit off more than we could chew. But thanks to Landon’s hands-on work and Byron’s guidance, we powered through and delivered.
