To start, we treated all four doors and the rear cab wall with the SS-Mass Sound Shield sound deadening kit, dramatically reducing vibration and road noise while improving overall sound quality.
For the front stage, we installed JL Audio CF-690 RTG components, featuring powerful 6x9 mid-bass drivers in the doors and dash-mounted speakers for crystal-clear highs. The rear received JL Audio C2 6.5” components, creating a balanced and immersive listening experience throughout the cab.
All eight speakers are powered by a JL Audio VXI-800/8 DSP amplifier, allowing precise crossover control and tuning for maximum performance.
For the low end, we built a custom ¾” MDF enclosure housing a JL Audio 12TW3 shallow 12” subwoofer. The enclosure features rounded corners to match the seat curves and is wrapped in vinyl and carpet to maintain the truck’s premium interior look. Powering the sub is a JL Audio RD 500/1 mono amplifier.
To support the installation, we fabricated custom carpeted amplifier mounts to securely hold both JL amplifiers alongside the OEM power inverter. The factory amplifier was replaced with a PAC Audio AP4-GM71 interface, providing a clean 5V audio signal while retaining factory features like parking sensor chimes.
We also installed SoundShield foam contour rings to seal the speakers to the door panels, ensuring every bit of sound energy is directed into the cabin instead of being lost inside the doors.
Finally, the system was dialed in using the JL Audio MAX tuning kit, utilizing five microphones placed at the driver’s headrest to precisely measure frequencies and deliver the ultimate listening experience.
