Melling cylinder deactivation delete kits convert GM engines with Active Fuel Management (AFM) or Dynamic Fuel Management (DFM) to a conventional valvetrain, eliminating the deactivation lifters that are a well-known source of lifter failure. Each kit packages the components that have to be changed together, including a delete camshaft, non-deactivation hydraulic roller lifters and the matching lifter guides, so there is no guessing about compatible parts. Kits with a tuner include the programming interface needed to recalibrate the engine computer for the conversion.
Melling lists this kit for GM 6.2L Gen V LT engines with Active Fuel Management, including the L86 and L87. Kit contents: delete camshaft, sixteen non-AFM lifters, four non-AFM lifter guides, camshaft thrust plate and VVT oil control valve. This kit does not include a tuner; the engine computer must be reprogrammed separately.
